Biotec Services Looks to Build U.S. Operation With New Appointment

Company hires business development manager.

Biotec Services International is looking to expand its presence in the United States with the appointment of a new business development manager.

The United Kingdom-headquartered company, which provides clinical trials supply chain management services, has recruited Doug Basinger as part of a strategic plan to build its American operation.

With more than 20 years of international clinical supply chain management experience, Basinger is tasked with growing Biotec Services’ client base along the West Coast, targeting the biotechnology hubs of California and Seattle, Wash.

Using his experience and network in the U.S. biotechnology industry, Basinger will expand and strengthen Biotec Services’ U.S. offering, which currently represents 54 percent of the company’s revenue.

The appointment follows Biotec Services’ establishment of a U.S. base earlier this year, which strategically is located in Seattle close to a large number of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

On his appointment, Basinger said: “I’m delighted to be joining an international organisation like Biotec Services to grow its presence in the U.S. market. The company has a fantastic reputation in the industry and has already made huge strides in the U.S. securing a number of clients on the West Coast. I look forward to making an immediate contribution to the company’s success using my contacts and experience within the industry to great effect.”

“The U.S. is a huge focus for Biotec Services as it is the largest pharmaceutical market in the world,” CEO Keren Winmill said. “Over the past five years, we have really grown our presence significantly along the West Coast having attended many of the key conferences in the region and a large proportion of our revenue now derives from that market.  The appointment of Doug builds on the opening of our U.S. office, allowing us to establish our own direct relationships with new and target clients along the West Coast, as well as across the U.S. and Canada.  His expertise in the industry and strong network will undoubtedly strengthen our presence in this market.”

In addition to the expansion in the U.S., Biotec Services has also appointed two new UK-based business development managers – Deb Williams and Jonathan Lake.

Williams joins Biotec from PCI Packaging Coordinators Inc. (formerly AndersonBrecon) with more than 25 years in clinical supply chain management. Lake comes from PHT Corporation, where he was a business development manager for northwest Europe.

“Our aim is to become an internationally recognized brand within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry and in order to achieve this, it is essential for us to invest in focused marketing and business development in key geographical markets including Israel, Korea and Canada, as well as the U.S.,” Winmill noted. “The appointment of Doug, Deb and Jonathan come at an important time as we look to grow our presence across the globe.”
